court reporters

For many years, the most technologically advanced in the court files was the shorthand machine. A result of modern typewriter, this “mechanical Wonder” allowed court reporters to transcribe even the fastest speaker accurately. And while the general population of business became more and more computerized technology in the courtroom remained relatively unchanged.

But in the last decade things have changed.

Currently, only one aspect of the rights of a court reporter has not been improved computer technology. Let’s look at some of these developments and how they are helping lawyers enjoy a better end product and make life reporter easier that way.

Computer Indexing
In the past, a court reporter could compile a written record of a hearing or deposition and report form for your customer. A person, usually a paralegal, you would go through the document at hand and highlight relevant passages, or search for hours in an attempt to find a reference to a person, place or thing.

Today, computer indexing gives the court reporter can order any transcription by keyword or phrase. These documents come through “soft copy” to the office of the law and are already marked by the client, specific mention of an event or anything that the lawyer needs to make better use of the document.

Video Court Reporting
It seems like yesterday that video recorders devices are large, clumsy, which took two people to handle. Now that VCRs have been reduced in size, with improved quality, more and more services court reports are used to provide a video recording of depositions, trials and other important procedures. In addition, the ability to create digital copies of these events makes them much easier to email or burn it to disc copying and distribution.

The Internet
The choice a court reporter has also become easier as a result of computer technology. Thanks to the Internet, lawyers can now find its reporter of the court with the click of a mouse. Many companies reporting the highest court in the country support and offer online booking services that make a reporter easier than ever.

Text Type of Technology
An interesting development in computer technology has been the voice to text software is making the rounds in law firms and court reporting services throughout the country. This software allows a person speaking into a microphone, and automatically incorporated words in a word processing document. The process is not perfect, but gives individuals a head start in the transcription process. For information and impeccable work transcription but a live person is still the best, most cost-efficient way of doing things.

Will technology make the reporter court obsolete?

New technologies that have entered the court of world reports only serve to improve human activity. The fact is that there will always be a need for the human element in judicial information. Understanding the flow of dialogue, soft-spoken words and emphasis are all things that man is doing better than a machine.
